architecture

The architectural office “Beis & Associatesgives priorityon the correctprocess of thearchitectural designrespectingthe environment.

For this reason, the architectural design and bioclimatic design for a building begins by defining the building program and the users’ needs. Climate analysis and the determination of thermal comfort zones are followed. Afterwards we investigate the building form relative to various factors (aesthetic, functional, orientation, integration with the architecture of the surroundings, etc.).

The architecture form that will emerge is studied in terms of the orientation; thus becomes the study of elevations, the optimum choice of shading and materials.

Our goal is to reduce the energy demand of a new building by means of architecture!

When the previous steps have successfully completed the contribution of technology follows. Smart cooling - heating systems with high efficiency is used.

Finally, aiming at zero carbon emissions the integration of renewable energy into the building can be studied.

Our office is member of SAAI ( www.saa-i.com ) since Mr Leonidas Beis is one of the cofounders of this firm. Mr. Leonidas Beis and Mrs Mania Ampatzi are in charge of the SAA – Hellas.

Sustainable Architecture Advisors International - SAAI is an international sustainable environmental consultancy firm with offices in U.K., Greece, Mexico, Costa Rica, Thailand, China, Spain and Australia, focused on sustainable architectural design research.

The consultants of sustainable environmental design(Beis & Associates) comprise of architectsengineers-civil engineersand mechanical engineerswith postgraduatestudiesin the fieldof bioclimaticdesign.

They are addressed toarchitectural-design offices, civil and mechanicalengineers in order to integratebioclimaticprinciples to the design of newbuildings andthe renovationof existing buildingsin order tooptimizetheir energybehavior.

The process of Sustainable Design

The proper procedure for (bioclimatic) design of building must begins first by setting the building program and the needs of building users and then (micro) climate analysis should be studied and thermal comfort zones have to be set. Those two have to be correlated. The exploration of the building form in relation to several factors such as aesthetic, functional, orientation, integration with the architecture of the region, etc. is following. The new design of the architectural form has be studied in terms of the orientation and by having a proper shadowing analysis and lighting analysis the correct choice of shading and materials has to be done. When all the previous stages have successfully be completed in terms of reducing the energy demand, technology comes to help by studying and using intelligent heating and cooling systems with high efficiency and controls. Finally, aiming at buildings with zero carbon emission, the integration of renewable energy can be studied.

LEED is driving the green building industry (http://www.usgbc.org/leed)

LEED, or Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design, is transforming the way we think about how our buildings and communities are designed, constructed, maintained and operated across the globe. Comprehensive and flexible, LEED is a green building tool that addresses the entire building lifecycle recognizing best-in-class building strategies.

At its core, LEED is a program that provides third-party verification of green buildings. Building projects satisfy prerequisites and earn points to achieve different levels of certification. Prerequisites and credits differ for each rating system, and teams choose the best fit for the project. (http://www.usgbc.org/leed)

Our office, set up in 1977, originally used the known PZO instruments for surveying. However, after a short time mapping and surveying demands developed and they are based on both earth and satellite technology.

Today we, with our dynamic workforce, offer services in the following sections.

  •  Topography

  • Photogrametry

  • Surveying

  • Setting out

  • Hypsometric studies

  • Forest inspection and real estate

Virtual reality is the most useful tool in order to understand or present a technical project.

With the necessary software the client or the researcher is able to see the construction which is going to be made either in photography or on video/DVD or in an execute file.

This execute file can give them the possibility for virtual reality on their computer using the keyboard in order to tour the future construction.

We present some indicative presentation ways.
